Our New Adventure
Well as I write this we are less than 3 weeks away from beginning our fabulous trip to Canada, Alaska and the USA. This trip is different from other overseas trips we have done as we have our good friends Cheryl and John joining us.
We have had a couple of planning days to work out accommodation, excursions while we are on the cruise and other tours we would like to do. During the planning phases there was lots of discussion and we worked through everything so we are all happy with the way our trip is going to play out.
We leave Sydney on 29th June and fly direct to Vancouver where our adventure begins. Once we arrive we get straight back onto another plane for the flight to Victoria Island where we will spend 3 nights. Back to Vancouver where we pick up a car and start our driving trip around the Rocky Mountains, stopping at various places which many people will be familiar with.
As we drive these are the places we will be visiting
*Whistler
*Clearwater
*Banff including Jasper
*Sun Peaks
*Kelowna
Back to Vancouver to board our Princess Cruise to Alaska. During the cruise we have a few land excursions to look forward to at Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway with cruising in between these ports before arriving in Whittier where we will continue on the land to Fairbanks.
Once in Fairbanks we are doing one of the highlights of the trip which is a flight over the Arctic. Definitely a once in a lifetime excursion. Cheryl mentioned this in the very initial discussions about the trip and it is one thing I wouldn't have thought to do.
Our itinerary from there and some of the things we hope to see is
*San Francisco - Alcatraz/Muir Woods/ Fisherman's Wharf
*Toronto - from here we will do Niagara Falls
* New York - what can I say there is so much to look forward to here but my highlight will be the Tenement Museum.
* Washington - museums, museums and more museums as well as the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and Capital Buildings.
*Las Vegas - highlight here will be the flight to the Grand Canyon.
*Honolulu - Pearl Harbour and relaxing as after the hectic timetable of the previous weeks I think we will need it.
We arrive back home on 22nd August.
Along the way there will lots of great sights and photo opportunities which will make for a great holiday I am sure. Going by what I have seen from friend's holidays that have done a lot of what we are doing it should be fabulous!
I hope to be able to keep up with updates along the way so for anyone who is interested please have a look whenever you have time.
Ready to go!!
What a wonderful trip! Looking forward to following your adventures.
